Everyone knows how the food pyramid looks like, but do we pay attention to the details. One does not need to get obsessed with counting calories, number of meals, and glasses of water.....I try to provide as much as information possible but at the same time present it in a simple way. For the overweight patients we start with cutting down the juice, saying NO to the SODA, and going with fat free dairy products.
The second step is decreasing the portions - cereal portion should be the size of a tennis ball, meat the size of a CD, cheese servings not bigger than a deck card.
